Understand the structure of Cotonity's activity logs, learn to filter and search effectively, set up log-based alerts, and export logs for external analysis.
Accessing the activity log
Click Activity Logs in the left sidebar to open the main log view. By default it shows all events across all agents in reverse chronological order for the last 24 hours. Each log row shows a timestamp, agent name, event type (Run Started, Run Succeeded, Run Failed, Tool Called, Integration Event), a short summary message, and a status badge. Click any row to open the full log detail panel on the right, which shows the complete input payload, the agent's output, every tool call made during the run (with inputs and outputs), the total token count, and the execution duration in milliseconds.
Filtering and searching logs
Use the filter bar at the top of the log view to narrow results. Available filters include: Agent (select one or more), Status (Success, Warning, Failure), Event Type, Date Range, and a free-text search that matches against the log message and payload fields. You can combine multiple filters, and the applied filters are shown as chips below the bar that you can remove individually. For complex recurring queries, click "Save Filter" to give the current filter set a name — saved filters appear in the left sidebar under "My Saved Views" for one-click access in future sessions.
Log-based alerts
You can create alerts that trigger when specific log patterns occur. Go to Activity Logs → Alerts → New Alert. Define a filter condition (for example, Status = Failure AND Agent = "Customer FAQ Bot") and set the notification channel: Email, Slack, Webhook, or PagerDuty. You can also set a cooldown period to prevent the same alert from firing more than once per hour. Log-based alerts complement the per-agent notification settings described in gs-08 by allowing more precise, multi-condition triggering logic — for instance, alerting only when failures exceed five in a ten-minute window.
Exporting logs
To export logs, apply the filters you want and then click "Export" in the top-right corner of the log view. Choose the format: CSV (best for spreadsheets), JSON Lines (best for log aggregation tools), or Parquet (best for data warehouses). Select the date range — up to 30 days per export request. The export is generated asynchronously and an email with a secure download link is sent to you within a few minutes. Export download links expire after 24 hours. For continuous log streaming to an external SIEM or data warehouse, consider the Log Streaming feature available under Settings → Integrations → Log Destinations.
