Customizing Registration Form Fields

Add, reorder, and configure custom fields on your event registration form, including conditional logic and CRM property mapping.

The Default Form and When to Change It

Every new event in Cotonity starts with a default registration form containing fields for first name, last name, and email address. For many events, this is sufficient. However, you may need additional information — dietary restrictions for a dinner event, job title for a B2B conference, or session preferences for a multi-track summit. You can fully customize the registration form under the "Form Fields" tab in the event editor. Changes apply only to the specific event, so your other events remain unaffected.

Adding and Configuring Fields

Click "Add Field" to open the field picker. Cotonity supports text inputs, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons, date pickers, and file uploads. Each field can be marked as required or optional. Give every field a clear label and, where helpful, a placeholder or helper text to guide attendees. You can also add a "Terms and Conditions" checkbox that links to a document URL — useful for events requiring attendees to acknowledge policies before registering. Drag-and-drop reordering lets you arrange fields in the most logical sequence.

Conditional Fields

Cotonity supports conditional logic on form fields. For example, you might show a "Dietary Requirements" text field only when the attendee checks "Yes" to "Do you have dietary requirements?" Conditional fields reduce form clutter for attendees who don't need to answer every question. Set up conditions by clicking the settings icon on any field and defining the trigger field and value. You can chain multiple conditions for complex forms. Conditional logic is evaluated in real time in the browser, so the form feels responsive and native.

Mapping Fields to CRM Properties

Each form field can be mapped to a corresponding CRM contact property in your connected HubSpot account. Open the field settings and select the target property from a searchable dropdown. When an attendee registers, Cotonity writes the submitted value directly to their contact record, keeping your CRM data current without any manual data entry. Unmapped fields are still stored in Cotonity and visible in the attendee record, but they won't sync to HubSpot until you create the mapping.
