Using workflow templates

Explore the Cotonity template gallery, deploy a ready-made workflow in one click, and learn how to customize templates for your specific use case.

Browsing the template gallery

Click the lightning bolt quick-action button on the dashboard, or go to Workflows → Templates, to open the template gallery. Templates are organized into categories: Customer Support, Marketing, Sales, HR, IT Ops, and Developer Tools. Each template card shows a name, a short description, the integrations required (with icons), and a difficulty badge (Starter, Intermediate, or Advanced). You can filter by category, integration, or difficulty using the controls at the top of the gallery. A search bar lets you find templates by keyword. Currently over 120 community and official templates are available, with new ones added weekly.

Deploying a template

Click a template card to open the detail page, which shows a diagram of the workflow, a written explanation of each step, example inputs and outputs, and user reviews from other Cotonity customers. Click "Use Template" to deploy it. Cotonity checks which integrations the template requires and highlights any that are not yet connected. You can connect missing integrations inline without leaving the deployment flow — clicking a missing integration takes you through the authorization steps in a pop-over window. Once all required integrations are connected, click "Deploy Workflow" and the template is added to your Workflows list in a draft state.

Customizing a deployed template

Templates are deployed as fully editable copies — Cotonity does not lock any node or configuration. Open the deployed workflow in the editor and click any node to inspect or modify it. Common customizations include replacing the default agent prompt with one tailored to your brand voice, adjusting the trigger conditions to match your naming conventions (for example, a specific Slack channel instead of a generic one), and adding or removing steps. The template's original structure is preserved in a read-only "Template Source" tab in the editor sidebar so you can always compare your changes to the original.

Sharing templates with your team

If you build a workflow you think others on your team or the broader Cotonity community would benefit from, you can publish it as a template. Open the workflow, click "Share" → "Publish as Template". Fill in the name, description, category, and a brief explanation of each step. You can choose to publish as a Workspace Template (visible only to members of your workspace), or as a Community Template (visible to all Cotonity users). Community Templates are reviewed by the Cotonity team before appearing in the public gallery, which typically takes 2–3 business days.
